Festive Halloween Banner
By Marci Lieshman
Have you noticed how Halloween just seems to be getting bigger and bigger? And the Halloween decorations just seem to get better and better? I am not one for the bloody and scary . . . which is what inspired me to create this fun and festive Halloween banner.
Perfect Layers are a perfect fit when it comes to making a banner for a few reasons:
- Layers make your banner stronger! Adding layers gives your banner durability, so you can use it year after year.
- Layers give your project such an artistic flair – you can easily take your project from plain to professional!
- Using Perfect Layers is so easy! I was able to create this banner is much less time using Perfect Layers (and with more accuracy) than I ever would have using a paper trimmer.
I absolutely love that there are so many fun papers and products available when it comes to Halloween. I decided to use a variety, and mix and match a bit. Each section of my banner has a different paper combination, but I kept up consistency by rotating pattern paper with solid layers.

I knew I needed a template, for all my triangles to be the same size. I did this by simply folding cardstock

I used the template for cutting the first piece of background pattern paper I used as the base for each banner piece. Super easy!

Next, I used plain black cardstock for my “in between” layers. My favorite to use is 1/16”, and I chose to use that between pattern papers to help the pop! Each banner has pattern paper, a black 1/16” layer, then a solid glitter cardstock layer cut at 3/16”, finished off with another black layer cut at 1/16”.

I love the look, but I also love that it is stronger than any adhesive – my banner will last and last for many years.

I will definitely use this banner year after year! It was so much fun to make, I am sure I will be creating them for many holidays and occasions! The possibilities are endless!
