A Piece Of Cake

Hello friends, Chitra here today and I am sharing a fun birthday card that you could say is ‘A Piece of Cake’.
I love making birthday cards and what other better way to surprise on birthdays than to send a handmade card with of course a little gift card in it and let them know how special this day is ☺

To create this card:
I stamped and colored the image onto Tim Holtz watercolor cardstock using distress inks; the watercolor panel measures 4.25” X 2.25”. To add some more interest to the panel I ran it through die-cutting machine using Lawn Fawn’s stitched border die on both the sides. I also stamped the sentiment using Memento black ink.
The colored panel is then layered with a DCVW magenta colored cardstock, it measures ¼” –inch. I used perfect layers mini and a craft knife to create my layer.
To create this beautiful background I took a top folding A2 card base, placed honeycomb stencil on top (secured it with some low tack tape and masked off the area where I did not wanted the ink), then with the help of Perfect airbrush I spritzed some pink and yellow ink using my sharpie markers.
(I wanted bright and bold colors for my background so I maintained fairly low distance between the cardstock and airbrush, but if you want yours to be very light and subtle you can increase the distance. Just try it on a scrap piece of paper first and once you are happy go ahead and do the magic on your cardstock).
The colored panel is then adhered using foam squares to the card base and I also added some glitter to the cherry.

Chitra Nair’s Debut Post

We are super excited to share Chitra Nair’s debut post today, so please leave a very warm welcome for one of the newest members of the design team.

Materials used: Perfect Tears ruler, Lawn Fawn Sweet Smile Stamp Set, Simon Says Stamp and Lawn Fawn Sentiments, Tim Holtz Watercolour paper, Watercolors, Black cardstock and Sequins.

Hello friends, its Chitra here and I am very excited to be sharing my first project here on the Perfect Paper Crafting blog today.

The image was stamped using Lawn Fawn “Sweet Smile” stamp set on to a Tim Holtz watercolor panel which measures 4.25”X2.75” and colored using watercolors. Once it was dry, it was then glued to the black cardstock.
The Perfect Tear tool was used to create the edge, align the tool on the paper where you want to tear, and run the water pen down the paper along the side of the tool.  This lightly moistens the paper to get a perfect “torn” edge.

PH2Here is a closer look, the dark black line is made using the water pen, then pull the paper towards you this helps tear the cardstock perfectly. Repeat the process for all four sides.

PH3Here is how it looks torn from all sides,

Add a sentiment on top from Simon Says Stamp and the bottom sentiment from Lawn Fawn (included in the sweet smile stamp set). A lot of foam adhesive was used to glue the panel to an A2 card base. Lastly add some sequins for embellishment.
