Valentines Inspiration

Finishing up some last minute Valentine’s cards? Jenny has a fabulous one to show your love!

By Jenny Gropp

Grab your Perfect Layer Rulers and some fun paper and stamps and get ’em done! Layers a simple way to really give your card a little extra WOW… without a lot of work!

I stamped the striped heart using Memento Tuxedo Black on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White paper.  Above are the Copic Markers I used to color it.

Use layers in-between your different patterned paper to help give definition and add interest. Foam tape helps adds dimension in between the layers.

Perfect Layer Rulers are the perfect got o tool to add a lot of interest to your card very easily! Small little layers in between those patterns help break it up and give it a clean feel. The small black lines are 1/16″ in size. This was a left over piece from my card front. Always using my leftovers for the inside! Finished card is an A2.

  • Dies by Impression Obsession: Heart of Hearts #DIE052-I
  • Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Black, Authentique 6×6 Adore Collection
  • Copics R81, R85, R46, B0000, B00, C8, C5

In The Woods with Roxie

The wonderful Roxie Glaza is back with us today with this fabulous drive into the woods card.

By Roxie Glaza

One of Roxie’s favorite layouts is this simple design using borders to highlight the scene, it’s nice to let the image take center stage!

Supplies:
Images: Just For Fun Rubber Stamps – Tree Line H2890, Vintage 1926 A3251 (car)
Paper: Remember When – black textured, Georgia Pacific – white
Ink: Memento – Tuxedo Black 900 for car, Memento Markers for trees – Pistachio 706, Northern Pine 709, London Fog 901, Peanut Brittle 802, grass – Bamboo Leaves – 707, Cottage Ivy701, New Sprout 704, gravel – Gray Flannel 902, Toffee Crunch 805, Desert Sand 804, Tuxedo Black 900,
Ranger Distress Ink – Tumble Glass for sky
Tools: Stamp positioner, Sponges, Roxie’s own cloud template, Perfect Layers mini – 1/6″ and 5/16″ rulers
Accessories: Tetes de clous- nailheads and Paper Glaze to attach to card

Steps:
1. Stamp the car and mask off, I used a sticky note to create my reusable mask.

2. Ink up the tree image with markers starting with the lightest colors, stamp using a positioner – Note the trees trunks were aligned with black areas on the car leaving the glass areas clear. Add the darker colors and continue until the desired color is achieved.

3. Color in the grass area adding some free hand grass with a different shade of green.

4. Create the gravel with markers.

5. Add the clouds using the template and sponge and avoiding sponging over the trees.

6. Cut the mats using the 1/6″ and 5/16″ rulers and attach to card base.

7. Attach the nailheads.

8. Unwanted specks just happened on the sky area…not a problem…just freehand some birds to disguise them with a fine tip marker and everyone will think you meant to do that! I used the finest tip of the detail Chameleon Pens.

Roxie we love your birds, we would love to hear ways that you have covered up mistakes in the past, leave a comment and let us know.
