Christmas Penguin Pair

By Roxie Glaza

What a happy little penguin pair, you can’t help but be in a good mood while coloring this cute image.
Color the image, apply the Stickles and set aside to dry.

Cut the red card stock and attach to the card. To reduce the bulk of layer: Place the white cardstock on a line of the Perfect Cutting Mat, place the Perfect Ruler at the 1/16 mark and cut a strip of white then glue it to the card above the red panel. Cut the border die and attach to the card above the white strip.

Using the Perfect Layers Mini cut a 1/16″ border all around for the image panel.

Using the Perfect Layers Mini cut a 1/4″ border to the opal layer.
Punch the opal photo corners and attach under the white layer. Attach these panel to the card with foam tape.
Attach the enamel dots.
Cut a wide strip of red and 1/16″ strip of opal and glue to the insert then attach to the card.

1. Print and color the image – this panel was 3 3/8″ x 4 5/8″ before trimming.

2. Cut the slate by placing the panel along the straight lines of the Perfect Cutting Mat, place the 1/8″ in from the lower left corner and 1/2″ from the upper left corner and cut with a craft knife.

3. Mask off the image and then using a stencil and molding paste create the raised design. Apply the ink with a sponge.

4 7/8″ down from the top edge cut 5/8″ out of the panel and then place the left edges on the edge of the olive paper using the 5/8″ Perfect Layers Mini to create an accurate spacing. Save the piece cut out for another project.

5. Stamp the sentiment.

6. Using the 1/16″ Perfect Layers Mini cut an olive border on the top, right and bottom edges and secure to the panel.

7. Cut two 1/16″ strips of teal cardstock and glue to the panel to create borders, once again the Perfect Cutting Mat markings and Perfect Ruler make this a simple and precise cutting task.

8. Cut the teal decorative border and tape to the panel on the backside.

9. Cut decorative cardstock 3 3/4″ x 5″ and using the 1/16″ Perfect Layers Mini cut the border and attach to the card. Note: the reason this border is cut very narrow is because the ruler was lying atop all the layers you see on the card which placed it a slight slant therefore a much narrower border than normal was achieved.

10. Place foam tape under the image panel and secure to the card, and then add the metal dots.

The insert is a thin piece of cardstock with a strip of decorative cardstock and border attached to the bottom.

Isn’t it great that we can speed this guy along…to make a cute card!

Jumping For Joy

We are so pleased to kick of our new design team with this fabulous project from Jenny Gropp. How fun is this little old lady jumping for joy? She’s jumping up and down cause it’s not her turning older! Her name Lillie and its an image from the fun Art Impressions. After coloring her up with Copics I used a Wobble to pop her up so she wiggles and jumps as soon as you pick up the card.

Here are the Copics I used to color Lillie. She’s a little on the skinny side so I had to cut the wobble down so you don’t see it sticking out behind her. To trim in the tiny little areas I used an Xacto knife. I added a little jute string detail around the oval die cut… not as tedious as it seems. I used a fineline applicator to put a small line of glue down and just laid the string along the glue.

I’ve used my Mini Perfect Layer Rulers to add all the yummy layers on the card. The smallest ruler has a 1/16″ edge and its my favorite and most used… those skinny little layers are ideal for card size projects.

I die cut some border edges from the patterned paper and wanted to layer them up. I used the Perfect Ruler and my grid mat to hold everything in place and cut a clean measured edge.

On the inside I always use up the left over paper. Also if you have lots of layers on the front… carry it through to the inside for a nicely balanced and finished card.

Spring Bouquet

Roxie Joins us today with this beautiful spring bouquet card.

The Printworks image Spring Bouquet was colored with Chameleon Pens.

The 1/16″ and 1/8″ Perfect Layers Mini rulers, Perfect Cutting Mat, and craft knife were used to cut the borders. Perfect layers every time!

The Perfect Airbrush and stencil were used to create the designer paper using a marker for ink.

Once colored the chevron stripes were cut apart using the Perfect Ruler and Perfect Cutting Mat.
All the pieces were put to use on the front and one left over for the insert. I like the grip feature on the bottom of the ruler for holding the paper secure and as you can see the fingers are well above and safe from the cutting blade!
